A big thank you to everyone that helped make the Bridge Jamboree a huge success!

Congratulations! We earned over $5000 for the Great Falls Friends & Neighbors Scholarship Fund!

In addition, the GFFN Philanthropy Committee sold more than 40 White House ornaments that day.  The profit from the sale of these ornaments will go to Artemis House, the Northern Virginia Shelter for Abused Women & their children.  If you would like to purchase more of these charming lighted Christmas Trees, contact Maria Volpe (703406-8494 or

Your Jamboree checks will be being deposited soon – when Scholarship Fund Treasurer, Jan Lane, returns to town.  And those of you who made donations will also be receiving a formal thank you & tax receipt.

The Great Falls Friends and Neighbors Scholarship Board is pleased to announce the scholarship awardees for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Each recipient will receive $1000.  The following are the George Mason awardees:

    Lea Lines                Nurse

    Martina  Atabong     Nurse Practitioner

    Hela Baer               Conflict  Analysis

    Kelly Hogan            Bette Carter Dance

We are working with NOVA to identify two additional $1000 scholarship recipients for the winter quarter. These names will be announced in October, scholarships awarded in January, and the women introduced at our Spring fundraiser.

We received a heartwarming thank you from Lea Lines. What a difference she is going to make to our community!  Here is just a part of her thank you: "Upon graduation from the very competitive nursing program at George Mason University, I am confident that I will be a significant contributing team member in the healthcare community. Ultimately, I see myself as an asset to the Labor and Delivery Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in one of the many reputable hospitals in the Northern Virginia area. It is my goal to serve my family, my school, and my community and to give back through professional nursing care.  Once again, I would like to offer my gratitude for your generosity and thank you for making a difference by assisting me as I pursue my education.

    Many thanks, Lea A. Lines"
